What to Expect


WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN TO A CHIROPRACTOR:

If you have never been to a chiropractor before, it might make you nervous. When you arrive at the chiropractor's office, everything will be done to help you feel comfortable. Our professional staff will help you complete the necessary paperwork before seeing the doctor.


What happens on your first visit:

(A): Dr. Genova will ask you questions regarding about your health history. This may include any previous diseases or operations you may have had, any medication you are currently taking, physical and work activity conditions or any other questions regarding your lifestyle. If you have provided x-rays, MRIs, or other studies he will go over them and discuss his results. (B): Depending on your complaint, you will receive a comprehensive orthopedic and neurologic evaluation. He may also check your vital signs including blood pressure, pulse and carotid arteries. (C): In addition to the things listed above, a thorough examination of your spine will be conducted. (D): Following the examination, potential findings, risks and contraindications to care will be discusses before implementing treatment. (E): Schedule your next appointment. At this point you will also be asked for payment, which can be made with cash, check or any major credit card.


DURING YOUR VISIT, YOUR CHIROPRACTOR MAY :

Have you bend and move around; observe your gait; test your flexibility; gently touch your neck, back, and/or extremities in order to determine areas of pain and fixation. At this point the doctor may perform a gentle chiropractic manipulation to restore function and mobility.

Dr. Genova utilizes the following techniques: Diversified; extremity adjusting; Flexion/Distraction; soft tissue manipulation for myofascial pain syndromes, mobilization techniques and therapeutic stretching and exercise.
